ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Personality Academics
Brian likes to make everyone around him laugh! Despite some verbal challenges, Brian gets the laughs he craves. He likes to draw and colour, and finds these activities quite calming. Swimming, playing outside and watching TV are some other great activities that keep Brian busy. Brian attends a Life Skills program that is modified to meet his needs and helps prepare him with independent living skills as he grows. Brian cannot read, but enjoys being read to. Brian has a Behaviour Management Safety Plan to ensure that strategies and interventions are in place for him in the classroom.
Special Considerations Matching Considerations

Brian requires a very predictable environment with supervision, redirection and support throughout the day. While Brian likes many activities, overstimulation can be difficult for him. He has developed connections with peers and staff, but still has difficulty in social situations in regards to speaking with people nicely and not teasing his friends. Brian is encouraged to take breaks when he feels he needs space away from a situation. Due to his limited speech and language skills, Brian does know some sign language and hand gestures to ensure he is communicating with caregivers.

Brian will thrive in a family that can dedicate time and energy to his care. He requires consistency and reliability from an adoptive family, where he can learn and grow to his highest potential. Brian enjoys praise from caregivers and very much wants to have a family of his own.
Openness Questions?
Brian has an ongoing relationship with a community support person from his past that has been very positive for him. He previously had extensive contact with his paternal aunt. These relationships will be important to continue post-adoption. Please see Brian's profile on the AdoptOntario Waiting Children list with the case ID 3283.
