Back

Melodic tunes often fill the air when Maya is around, as she thoroughly enjoys listening to music and is quite skilled learning new songs very quickly. To help further bolster her love for music, Maya recently received a new guitar and hopes to begin taking guitar lessons soon. Maya enjoys helping out around the house with a range of tasks including tidying, gardening, and cooking. Understandably, shows like Food Factory really grab her attention. She also loves animals and enjoys helping to take care of the family pets. Maya has aspirations of being a dog groomer when she grows up. While she’s open to other scenarios, her dream would be to live on a farm with pets or other animals!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Personality Academics
Maya is a very sweet and engaging little girl. Her cheerful, polite and affectionate nature are so endearing! With her creative streak and vivid imagination, Maya has a flair for the dramatic and loves imaginative play. Maya is active and energetic and appreciates the outdoors, particularly enjoying gardening, swimming and going for walks. Maya enjoys playing with her toys, particularly her Monster High dolls and her stuffed animals. She also enjoys doing crafts and colouring. Maya is not afraid to try new things and will eagerly approach new situations with little or no hesitation. Maya is in a regular classroom setting with a modified curriculum. While Maya likes attending school and wants to learn, she can become easily distracted. Cues and redirection help Maya remain on track at school. She would likely benefit from academic tutoring to help her to reach her full potential.
Special Considerations Matching Considerations

Maya benefits from support with her relationships with peers, and does well with patience, support and guidance to help develop her social skills. She does well with transition time before changing activities, so her foster mom often gives her a five minute warning before starting something new. While Maya typically enjoys good health and is active and full of energy, she has a medical condition which is controlled using medication.

Maya would be best matched with a warm, loving and patient family who can appreciate her charming quirkiness and her vivid imagination. She would relate well to a family that shares her love of music as well as her love of animals. Maya would do best as the only child or as the youngest child in the home. Maya would respond well to a structured, consistent and routine oriented household. Maya needs a family who is open to accessing resources including music or art therapy, and academic tutoring.
Openness Questions?
Some level of openness with Maya’s birth mother will likely be beneficial for her, so her adoptive family will need to be able to help Maya facilitate this. Also, a continued relationship with her foster family would be really important for Maya. Please see Maya's profile on the AdoptOntario Waiting Children list with the case ID 15364.
