Special Presentation: Transitioning Children The “Both-And” Approach
Transitioning children into families is a complex task with many moving parts. There are multiple factors to consider from making the right match to stabilizing the family after the move, to managing the grief and loss of foster caregivers and children.
With a focus on the “human factors”- the child, the adopting family, the foster family, the birth family, the Workers, the “Both-And” approach looks at how to bring all these moving parts together to stabilize the child and the family. This workshop will look at some of the factors that complicate the transition and how workers can reduce the impact on the transition.
